2020 Updates

We are pleased to announce that Centennial Ice Rinks is adding to the services offered in Phase 4 of Governor Pritzker's Restore Illinois Plan.

  • We will continue to offer privately booked time slots on the ice. We are offering a reduced schedule and ice time needs to be booked 1 week in advance.

  • Space must be requested one week in advance
  • Space is not guaranteed

2020 Rules & Procedure

Restrictions on the ice:

  • In Phase 4, and the All Sports Policy, sports activities are limited to No-contact practices, and trainings only.
  • Group sizes should be limited to 50 participants
  • Multiple groups permitted at once as long as:
    • Facilities allow for social distancing of participants
    • 30-ft of distancing is maintained between groups
    • Areas for each group are clearly marked to discourage interaction between groups
  • Participants and coaches should not shake hands, high five, or touch one another other than what occurs inadvertently during a drill, practice or lesson
  • Rink maximum capacity:
    • Main Rink: 50 skaters for public skate, 20 skaters per Freestyle Session
    • Studio Rink: 50 skaters

Participant PPE & equipment:

  • Participants should wash hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer before participating and regularly for the duration of practice.
  • Participants should wear face coverings over their nose and mouth when inside the facility. This includes while on the ice.
  • All face masks, sanitizing supplies, and hand sanitizer must be supplied by your organization or by your participants
  • If practical, sanitize shared equipment during use (e.g., between drills) and encourage frequent hand sanitizing or hand washing if facilities are available.
  • Shared equipment is to be sanitized in between scheduled drills, practices, and lessons
  • Participants should use their own equipment as much as practical

New practices & procedure at the rink:

  • There is no loitering in the main rink lobby allowed and no spectators
  • Participants should bring their own source of water
  • Washrooms are available
  • Participants should avoid touching facility accessories
  • Sport organizer should maintain attendance log of participants
  • Before participating in the sport, instructors should ask whether participant is currently exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. If a participant does have symptoms, they should wait to enter premises until they have had no fever for at least 72 hours, other symptoms have improved, and at least 10 days have passed since their symptoms first appeared, and after afebrile and feeling well (without fever-reducing medication) for at least 72 hours
  • When arriving for their ice session, players and coaches are to enter the ice rink main entrance and follow arrows to enter to the right of the ramp
  • When leaving, patrons are to exit to the right of the ramp out the main entrance

Freestyle Guidelines:

  • Masks are required per the Illinois All Sports Policy
  • Ice Dance and Pair Skating are not allowed at this time
  • The house sound system will be available
  • The jump harness will be available and must be sanitized before and after use by the skating instructor.
  • Skaters and coaches may arrive for their scheduled ice slot 10 minutes in advance.
  • All skaters must check in at the office upon arrival at the rink
  • Skaters and coaches may put their skates on in the lobby
  • Skaters who have a break between freestyle sessions will be allowed in the ice rink main lobby, however will need to wear a mask
  • Spectators are not allowed at this time

Hockey Guidelines:

  • Masks are required per the Illinois All Sports Policy
  • Players and coaches may arrive for their scheduled ice slot 10 minutes in advance.
  • Hockey players are to dress at home. No locker rooms will be available at this time.
  • Coaches will be allowed use the coaches room to dress for their session
  • Goalies will be provided a private area to dress for their time slot. Home dressing is strongly encouraged for all goalies.
  • Spectators are not allowed at this time
  • There is no congregating in the rink or lobby area.

Public Skate Guidelines:

  • Patrons may start to arrive 10 minutes prior to Public Skate
  • You must bring your own skates and gloves
  • Skate Rental is not available
  • 50 participants are allowed per session
  • You must pre-register online in advance
