Updated answers to your questions about the Wilmette Park District's response to State of Illinois' new Tier 2-level restrictions

Our region has moved to Tier 2!
Now, we can open up registration for Winter programs.

We know you may have several questions regarding Winter programming, and about how we are adapting to the State of Illinois Tier 2 Restrictions overall. Here are a few answers for you:

Which Wilmette Park District programs are running right now?
We continue to run programs and events in compliance with Restore Illinois restrictions; currently, we are in Tier 2. This allows us to open registration for Winter small-group classes. We're thoughtfully designing new types of classes and events, always with your health our top priority. We encourage you to check our website often for updates, as programs are evolving.

To honor all COVID-19 mitigation restrictions, we've created a variety of opportunities for recreation both indoors and outdoors. These include:

  • new options for one-on-one instruction,
  • outdoor group classes,
  • virtual programs via Zoom,
  • Tier-2-compliant family events, and
  • "pop-up" classes

How will I know which programs will be offered this winter? How do I register?
Identifying programs to offer within ever-changing restriction levels has been a very fluid process. Because of this, a special, pared-down, online Winter 2021 Explore! guide was just posted on January 18. Classes in this guide are not listed with dates or fees; this additional class information can be found in our registration system.

When does winter program registration open?

Wednesday, January 20 for residents
Friday, January 22 for non-residents

When do winter classes begin?

Monday, January 25

I don't see Tennis or Platform Tennis classes listed in Explore! How do I view those classes and register?
Tennis class offerings are now available to view on the Winter 2021 Classes page of our website. Platform Tennis classes are listed in the Platform Tennis Lessons section of this site; registration opened earlier in January for them, and winter Platform classes are underway.

Is the Summer Camp Guide coming out soon?
The Summer Camp guide will come out later than usual, with registration in early spring. As we continue to navigate current guidelines, we are creating a variety of safe, compliant camp offerings for our community.

Do Early Childhood Center of Wilmette programs such as Preschool and Kindergarten Enrichment continue to run?
Yes. Our Early Childhood programs are continuing. For more details and to learn more about how we are keeping safe, visit the Early Childhood section of our website.

Are Beyond the Bell after-school programs running?
Yes. We are currently offering C.A.R.E. and Supervision for Remote Learning in compliance with Tier 2 restrictions.

Can I still work out at Center Fitness Club?
Yes. Capacity limits have been set, so advance timeslot registration is required. Personal training will also continue, and virtual group fitness classes are available for those who wish to work out with us from home. With Tier 2, small-group in-person fitness classes may be available. Check our website for more information.

We like to go to free skate in the wintertime. Will the ice rinks be open?
Ice skate time is available by reservation. Centennial Ice Rinks is open for one-on-one training, and now, with Tier 2, for small-group classes as well. For more information, check out the Ice section of our website and our Winter Explore! guide.

Will outdoor ice skating be available?
We plan to set up outdoor ice rinks in the parks as soon as weather permits. Check our website for updates.

Cross-country skiing?
Once conditions allow (six inches of snow on the ground), trails will be groomed for cross-country skiing at the Wilmette Golf Course.

If the weather is nice, can we play golf?
The Wilmette Golf Course is closed for the season. When weather permits, the driving range may open. Check golfwilmette.com for up-to-date Golf status.

How about outdoor tennis or pickleball?
Outdoor tennis courts will be available all winter long (pickleball lines have been added to Hibbard and Maple courts); reservations are not required off-season; however, if you prefer to reserve an outdoor court, you can do so through www.yourcourts.com.

Is the Platform Tennis Club open?
Yes, with group size restrictions. All players must wear a mask, even when playing. Winter class registration is underway; go to the Platform Tennis section of this site for info.

Is the Wilmette Tennis Club open? Can I still take tennis lessons?

How about music lessons?
Yes, in-person or virtual lessons are available from the Center for the Arts.

Are rentals available for parties or gatherings? Can we book a birthday party?
No. At this time we are not offering room/facility rentals, or booking birthday parties.

Are all parks open?
